Bosch has Abarth’s back

February 8, 2014

One of OVERSTEER’s favourite road cars is the mental Abarth 695, so we were stoked when we found out the race version  – the 695  Assetto Corse – was attacking The Mountain during this weekend’s Bathurst 12 Hour.

Now, while the 695 is insanely aggressive and terrifyingly quick on the road and we have no doubt it would be MASSIVE fun around Bathurst and more than capable of doing well in its class, there is little doubt there WILL be faster cars on the track. But Bosch has a very clever and high-tech solution to the problem of being passed by terrifyingly fast cars on one of the most terrifying race tracks in changing conditions…

The Fiat Chrysler Group has teamed up with Bosch to equip the three Abarth 695 Assetto Corse cars with an advanced rear vision technology: Bosch CAS‐M (collision avoidance system for motorsport) gives the driver information about what speed cars are travelling behind them and even which side they are passing on.  The system relies on a high‐resolution camera, rear facing radar and advanced software.

The Abarth 695 Assetto Corse racecars are also fitted with larger fuel tanks, upgraded suspension and brakes with Bosch Motorsport ABS system to transform them from sprint to endurance racers capable of tackling the arduous conditions at Mount Panorama.
