Brutish Wrangler launching locally

January 18, 2016

If there is one thing that Jeep fans have been screaming out for for year now, it is a pick up version of the iconic Jeep Wrangler. And from the middle of next month, kiwi Jeep fans will finally be able to get their hands on one.

While Jeep has responded to demands for a pick up with some fantastic concepts over the years, it has yet to come up with a real production deal to satisfy fans. That is where American Expedition Vehicles comes in. The US-based company has been building the Wrangler Brute Double Cab, a pick up conversion of the five-door Wrangler Unlimited, for a number of years now and it has proven popular over in the USA.

So popular that, starting from next month, Fiat Chrysler dealers around the country will be able to access the AEV Wrangler Brute Double Cab through local Jeep distributor Fiat Chrysler New Zealand.

With a lengthened wheelbase to accommodate the injection moulded cored composite tray, the Brute loses none of the Wrangler Unlimited’s interior space, but adds the convenience of the 1,525mm X 1,550mm wellside deck.

The Brute Double Cab is powered by the same 3.6-litre petrol V6 as the standard Wrangler Unlimited.

While Fiat Chrysler NZ has confirmed the Brute Double Cab is coming, it has yet to reveal pricing or specification.
