Give a man a fish, the saying goes, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
Teach that fish to drive, however, and you have a whole new kettle of fish on your hands. Driving fish.
Studio Diip is a technology company that specialises in making stuff that uses image recognition technology. Stuff that is all very clever, but rather boring to read about how it works.
So to overcome this boring aspect the clever minds at Studio Diip have come up with a slightly fishy way of demonstrating what they can do. Literally; they have given a fish a set of wheels.
The fish’s tank is attached to the underpinnings of a remote control car and an overhead camera tracks what direction the fish is swimming in, simultaneously steering the car in that direction, effectively letting the fish explore until its fishy little heart is content.
Quite aside from simply and effectively demonstrating technology, they could well be on to something that takes fish ownership into the future – if you happen to live somewhere that doesn’t allow cats or dogs, but still wanted to be greeted at the door by a pet when you get home? Then this would be perfect.
