Italian-based businessman Pourmohseni Hadi had complained to BMW repeatedly about his 2008 M6’s vibrations, jolts and bad gear shifts. BMW Italy couldn’t fix it, so he took the most rational course of action and beat the hell out of it with an axe and a sledgehammer in front of the Frankfurt motorshow.
Hadi had been complaining about his car for some time and, according to him “BMW Italia and the Munich headquarters tossed the responsibility back and forth”
Hadi told German paper Bild that he had tried ordinary channels for help to no avail. “I wrote BMW a letter – no answer. Now I’m answering [back]! With this action!”
There is possibly an obvious answer to Hadi’s problem though – the 2008 BMW M6 was equipped with a seven-speed automated single clutch transmission that BMW called an SMG – a transmission that was notorious for vibrations, jolts and, erm, bad gear shifts when it was operating correctly. The simple explanation is that it just wasn’t a very refined transmission.
It worked very well when you were going very quickly indeed, but around town it was coarse, unrefined and very grumpy.
Perhaps the explanation “They all do that, sir” really did apply here, or perhaps Hadi’s car really was worse than most. We hope he didn’t smash his car up just because it was doing something that they all did…
But then, watching the smug git and his equally smug fat mate really quite enjoying smash the hell out of the car, we kinda hope he did…
