For our BLAST FROM THE PAST this week Kieran Roberts takes us to Levin in 1967 with the legendary Robbie Francevic behind the wheel of the equally legendary Custaxie.
From Kieran’s website: “The Custaxie name came from an amalgamation of a 1955 Ford Customline fitted with a 7-litre Ford Galaxie engine, Francevic’s team making full use of New Zealand’s very relaxed saloon rules at the time. The car would prove almost unbeatable, and only Paul Fahey in a Mustang was able to put up any sort of a fight. However, after it’s successful year of dominance, the rules were changed, outlawing the Custaxie.”
We will continue to feature more of Kieran’s work over the coming weeks, but you can head to his website www.kieranrobertsart.com to see more, or buy some of his brilliant work.
