R.I.P Rik Mayall, the man almost solely responsible for forming my concept of humour when I was a young, impressionable lad.
Pretty much everything he did – from the glorious anarchy of ‘The Young Ones’ to the surreal blackness of “The Comic Strip Presents…” and the sleazy satire of “The New Statesman” – was hilarious and well worth watching.
He will be sorely missed.
To celebrate his wonderful life, here is a classic clip from the 1998 “Comic Strip” special “Four Men in a Car” – a gleefully dark mix of road rage, swearing, Spandau Ballet, violence, blood and vomit! (NSFW)
Thanks Rik. Why did you have to go and die, you utter, utter bastard…
