The Volt is not a particularly large car, but it will carry four people in relative comfort. But only four.
The Volt is a dedicated four-seater, with the central battery pack running through the middle of the two separate rear seats. You could probably jam a couple of smaller passengers in the boot, but the authorities tend to frown on that sort of thing, so best not.
Being fully loaded with four adults has no discernible effect on the Volt’s ability to charge away from a standstill with an electrically-driven authority. Same goes for handling, with the Volt’s gloriously low centre of gravity largely negating the effect of extra people.
