Lotus F1 driver Pastor Maldonado has something of a reputation as an off-road driver/one man car destruction team, and it now seems that Lotus have decided to embrace that with their latest F1 car.
Featuring chunky off-road tyres, spikes, skulls, armour and flame throwers, it would seem to be a car custom-designed for Maldonado’s driving style.
Except it is actually a tie-in for the upcoming movie Mad Max: Fury Road.
The press release says that the Lotus F1 Team Mad Max Hybrid is “fitted with special accessories and heavy modifications for a world gone mad” (which sounds like an accurate description of Maldonado’s driving style to us…) and while the actual race cars won’t be quite so spikey, the team will race at this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix in a special Mad Max livery.
