The latest in Kia’s long line of superhero-inspired ways to make its cars look worse has been revealed ahead of the launch of the latest X-Men movie – X-Men: Apocalypse – and the 2016 Australian Open tennis championship, of which the Korean manufacturer is a sponsor.
The new Kia Sportage (arriving in New Zealand early-2016) is actually a good looking car, but you wouldn’t know that by looking at the latest X-Car (as the company calls it).
What makes the lack of attractiveness even more mystifying is that the X-Car has been inspired by the X-Men character of Mystique, the very blue shape-shifting assassin portrayed in the movie series by Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence.
Kia will introduce the new X-Car in a special online video starring Kia’s global brand ambassador Rafael Nadal on Monday.
Ahead of the X-Men: Apocalypse global release in cinemas in May 2016, Kia will show the new car in Melbourne before the start of the the Australian Open 2016 in January and display it to the public at Melbourne Park throughout the tournament (January 18-31) before making appearances at various international motor shows and fan events in the run up to the film’s premiere in May 2016.
