It is a question that the Financial Times asks in this short video, but don’t imagine that the manufacturers (who have spent at least as much, if not more on such technology) to let things go quite so easily.
A fascinating potential battle is emerging between the traditional car manufacturers and technology companies such as Google, Apple and even Tesla to drive the future direction of the car.
Recently we attended the “Further with Ford” event in San Francisco which explored similar ideas (obviously from Ford’s point of view though!) and really the future of cars is tied up with the concept of “mobility” – ie: getting to from one place to another when thousands of other people have the same idea. Cars alone aren’t the solution to this…

The future of cars is fascinating and exciting, and possibly the most exciting part is that car manufacturers, like Ford, are starting to realise that that very future isn’t actually all about cars…
But to put your minds at rest, Ford also gave us a look at their future of cars and motor racing with a nice, long look at the gorgeous Ford GT. So it’s nice to know they also car about cars. Fast, loud sexy cars…
