Here is a great article on Jalopnik.com about one of three Volvo 960 wagons packing supercharged Ford V8s that the legendary Paul Newman had built – one for him, one for a family friend and one for talk show host David Letterman.
LETTERMAN: I say to Paul, “Now wait a minute. Paul, I have a Volvo station wagon, 400 horsepower?” And he says, “Oh, yeah,” he says, “from 20 to a hundred you can chew anybody’s ass.” And I’m thinking to myself, what circumstance would Paul find himself in driving around in a Volvo station wagon where he feels like he’s gotta chew somebody’s ass?
It’s a great article about a very special car inspired by a very special car guy. Paul Newman died five years ago, but his contribution to acting, US car culture and motor racing will always be remembered. Plus this Volvo is just freakin’ awesome!
