When you can boast the tallest building in the world, it makes sense that you should have the world’s fastest, most expensive police cars as well. As much as something like that can ever make sense.
However, “sense” has never been as important as “blatant demonstrations of wealth” in Dubai, and in keeping with that, the blingiest Emirate in the UAE has purchased a Lamborghini Aventador and a Ferrari FF for the police to patrol the “main tourist sites”.
According to Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina of the Dubai police, “The aim is to reflect the reputation of the emirate and the high stature it achieved. It will also help promote tourism and showcase the security role the Dubai police plays in safeguarding the city.”
Plus it is an awesome way to show every other country in the world that you just have more money than them.
The vehicles will be deployed at the downtown area near the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa tower, the Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard as well as the cafe- and restaurant-lined walk of the Jumeirah Beach Residence, one of the most popular waterfront developments in Dubai.
Lt. Gen. Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief, said that the superpatrolcars would “confirm Dubai as magnificent and extravagant in all the services it provides.”
In a masterful display of understatedness he also said Dubai Police is one of the few police forces in the world which has such cars in its security patrol service.
