Volvo Trucks just seem to be getting sillier and sillier with their promotional videos lately. Not that we think that is a bad thing – their latest vids are great!
Take this one for example: someone thought it was a great idea to paint a truck red and have it outrun a herd of bulls and bull runners through the narrow streets of Cicudad Rodrigo, Spain. And you know what? They were right…
Featuring no computer effects – everything you see in the video is the real deal – it took Oscar-nominated director Henry Alex Rubin 28 cameras and a crew of 250 (including 50 professional bull runners) to film stunt driver Rob Hunt throwing the Volvo FL with precision and flair.
Hunt had to maintain a minimum speed of at least 30km/h through the terrifyingly narrow streets in order to keep the 12-tonne truck ahead of the bulls.
Our favourite bit of the ad? When Hunt casually folds the mirror in to squeeze through the narrow tunnel at the end…
According to Volvo no trucks or bulls were hurt in the making of the video. No mention was made of any bull runner injuries, but then if you are stupid enough to do that, then you deserve what you get…
