Got a lazy half a mil lying about? Better start checking down the side of the couch then, because Mercedes-Benz has just announced the price of the Black Series version of the SLS AMG Coupe.

NZ$528,150 will get your necessarily narrow buttocks wedged into the SLS Black Series’ racing seat and it will no doubt be worth every single cent, if previous Black Series cars are anything to go by.

Previously AMG has done Black Series versions of the CLK 63 (2007), SL 65 (2008) and the C 63 coupe (2011). We here at OVERSTEER were lucky enough to to get our unsettlingly shaky hands on the CLK 63 back when seven of them were sold in New Zealand and we can tell you it was an absolute weapon…

AMG has tweaked the mighty 6.3-litre V8 engine to deliver a maximum output of 464kW of power and 635Nm of torque, making the SLS Black Series the most powerful AMG with an internal combustion engine – the electric version of the SLS boasts 552kW.

The SLS Black Series accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds, and attains a top speed of 315 km/h.

So start emotionally preparing yourself to slaughter the piggy bank now, because the SLS AMG Black Series goes on sale in New Zealand in July.
