The Top Ten finalists for the overall AA/NZ Motoring Writers’ Guild New Zealand New Zealand Car of the Year have been announced.
They are, in no particular order:
Subaru BRZ, Ford Kuga, Lexus IS, Holden Volt, Hyundai Santa Fe, Volkswagen Golf, Subaru Forester, Holden Commodore VF, Mazda6 and Volvo V40.
The finalists will now be voted on by members of the NZ Motoring Writers’ Guild to find the winner.
Last year’s winner was the fantastic Toyota 86, with the Toyota sports car just edging out the BMW 3 Series and the Mazda CX-5. But its identical twin, the Subaru BRZ (launched locally a few months after the Toyota, putting it in this year’s selection instead) faces some pretty stiff competition, particularly from the brilliant new Mazda6 and the incredibly good (and incredibly well-priced) VW Golf.
Which one will win? We will let you know. Which one do you think will win? Feel free to let us know!
In the meantime, enjoy the photo gallery of the finalists above, or dig deeper into what we think of them with our selection of First Drives and Road Tests below.
